My Therapeutic Philosophy
In conceptualizing my role in the therapeutic relationship, I envision myself as a facilitator of the change process.
I encourage my clients to be invested and actively working towards their treatment objectives. I seek to highlight and emphasize the strengths of my clients rather than dwell on their perceived weaknesses.
In this way, our therapy process becomes a collaborative effort and my clients will begin to affect positive change in their own lives during therapy and outside of the therapeutic setting.
Professional Bio
My academic career began at University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA where I received my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Humanistic Psychology. It was during this time that I also received my first clinical training and work experience in both inpatient and outpatient therapeutic milieus. While working in these settings, I also completed my Specialist in Education degree in Community Counseling and really began to develop my interest and skills in providing therapy and counseling services to families and individuals of all ages.
I subsequently determined that I would be able to contribute most effectively in community by pursuing my clinical career to become a Licensed Psychologist. While I prepared myself for the rigorous Doctoral program application process, I was fortunate to begin my career in the vocational rehabilitation field, working with individuals with disabilities who are furthering their vocational goals. Upon my acceptance into the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program at Fordham University - Lincoln Center, I relocated to metro New York City to complete my Doctoral degree coursework and Pre- and Post-Doctoral Internships.
Currently, I am licensed as a Psychologist in New York, New Jersey and Georgia with over 20 years of direct counseling and therapeutic experience. In addition to continuing my counseling services in vocational and individual counseling, I administer psychological evaluations and vocational assessments. In order to keep myself abreast of the most current academic advances in the field of psychology, I also serve as an Adjunct Faculty Member in the New York City metro area and supervise graduate level Mental Health Counseling students.
I welcome your inquiries and interest in my practice and look forward to assisting you in your therapeutic and vocational needs!
